Entries run through Haku, our registration system. Everything below is the policy as it actually is — including the bits about refunds, which we would rather you read now than discover later.

The short version

  • Enter early. Fees step up as the date approaches and many events sell out.
  • You can change distance up to seven days before, yourself, in your Haku account.
  • Entry fees are non-refundable — but cancel more than 14 days out and you keep 75% as credit toward next year.
How do I register, and what happens next?
Entries are taken through Haku, our third-party registration system. You get an email confirmation from Haku as soon as you are in — keep it, because your confirmation number is what lets you make changes later.
Can I move up to a longer distance?
Yes, up to seven days before the event. Log into your Haku account, click Your Events at the top, then View Registration on your tile, then Registration Options and Switch Category. To move down a distance, email us instead and we will do it for you.
How do relay and adventure teams register?
One person registers and pays for the whole team first. Then go to the Teams tab in your Haku account and either email invitations to your teammates or copy the team invitation link and share it. You can edit the team name from there too.
Do races sell out?
Many of them, yes — most events have a participant cap. Register early: it saves your spot and you pay less, because fees step up on a tiered basis as the date gets closer.
What is the refund policy?
Entry fees are non-refundable — you agree to that when you register. But we do offer a credit: cancel more than 14 days before the race and you get 75% of your entry fee as credit toward the following year’s event. Inside 14 days there is no credit.
How does the waitlist work?
If an event is full we may open a waitlist. Full payment is required to join it and places are processed in the order received — being on the waitlist does not guarantee entry. If enough people cancel you get a confirmation email. If you never convert, you choose: 85% of your entry back as a refund, or 100% as a transferable credit good for any Big Blue Adventure event until 31 December of the following year.
Are there discounts?
Group and military discounts are available. Email us and ask.
